Very interesting article! Although from a physiotherapist’s perspective, I’d also like to add that standing desks can be very effective for workers with musculoskeletal problems such as low back and neck pain. Biomechanically we just aren’t meant to be sitting for prolonged periods of times. Not only can this weaken certain muscles like our glut but can also tighten up other structures like our back muscles (lumbar erector spinae) and hip flexors. All of which can contribute to aches and pains commonly seen with many office workers.
